We are the data controller for personal data processed via MyLabourer.
What this policy covers
This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal data when you use the MyLabourer apps and website.
Data we collect
Usage & content: job posts, applications, favourites/saved items, messages, reviews/ratings.
Location: approximate location from searches or device GPS with your permission (you can turn this off in device settings).
Device & diagnostics: app version, device type, OS, crash/diagnostic logs.
Payments (if/when enabled): subscription/payment details handled by our payment provider (we do not store full card numbers).
Support: messages you send to customer support.
Account & profile: name, email, password (hashed), role (Labourer or Tradesman/Employer), avatar, availability, location area, bio.
How we use your data (purposes & lawful bases)
Improve & secure the app (analytics, debugging, preventing abuse). Basis: Legitimate interests.
Location features (nearby jobs/candidates). Basis: Consent (you can withdraw in device settings).
Payments & invoices (subscriptions). Basis: Contract / Legal obligation.
Notifications & service emails (password resets, alerts). Basis: Legitimate interests / Contract.
Marketing
Provide the service (create accounts, show jobs/candidates, messaging, search & maps). Basis: Contract
When we share your data
With service providers (processors):
Hosting & database: Supabase (auth, database, file storage).
Maps & geocoding: Google Maps Platform.
Push notifications: Expo/Apple/Google push services.
Email delivery: [Postmark/SendGrid/Resend] (password reset, verification).
Payments (if enabled): RevenueCat(subscriptions).
These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate contracts.
Legal & safety: if required by law or to protect users, our company, or the public.
With other users: When you apply, post a job, or message, relevant profile/job details are shown to the other party.
International transfers
Some providers may store/process data outside the UK/EEA. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and equivalent mechanisms.
Data retention
Jobs & messages: retained for 3 months after closure (fraud/spam and dispute handling), then deleted/anonymised.
Diagnostics/logs: typically 3 months.
Payments/records: kept as required by law (usually 6 years in the UK).
Account & profile: kept while your account is active; deleted or anonymised within 3 months after closure.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, portability, and to withdraw consent (for location/marketing).

You can also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk) if you’re unhappy with our response.
Cookies & tracking
Apps: we do not use third-party ad trackers. Limited analytics/diagnostics may run to improve stability.
Website: we use essential cookies and may use analytics cookies (only with consent where required).
Location services
If you grant permission, the app may access your device location to show nearby jobs/candidates. You can disable location in your device settings; you can still search by area manually.
Children
MyLabourer is not intended for under-16s. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Security
We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, role-based access, least-privilege keys) and monitor for abuse. No method is 100% secure; we work continuously to improve our protections.
Third-party links
The app/website may link to third-party sites. Their privacy practices are their own—please review their policies.
Changes to this policy
We’ll post updates here and change the “Last updated” date. For material changes we may notify you in-app or by email.
